Defence questions validity of evidence against cardiologist facing charges of sex abuse

An internationally renowned paediatric cardiologist who is facing allegations of sexual abuse of children at the General Medical Council is challenging a decision to admit hearsay evidence against him.

A barrister for Philipp Bonhoeffer, former head of cardiology at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, asked two judges at the High Court in London to quash the decision of a GMC fitness to practise panel as irrational and a breach of his right to a fair trial.
