The Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust has launched a High Court challenge to a proposal to stop it doing children’s heart surgery as part of a move to concentrate services in a few large units.
The trust is seeking judicial review of a decision by the Joint Committee of Primary Care Trusts, a committee of NHS specialist commissioners from across England, to go ahead with a consultation on proposals to limit paediatric cardiac surgery in London to two instead of three units, excluding the Royal Brompton Hospital.
