Remote healthcare technologies may reduce the number of emergency admissions to hospital among patients with certain long term conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), show preliminary results from a large randomised controlled trial of such technology.
Although the full results are yet to be published, leaders of the “whole systems demonstrator” (WSD) programme discussed their initial insights at the International Congress on Telehealth and Telecare at the King’s Fund in London on 2 and 3 March.
