Born in Ipswich on 30 March 1917, Edward Pringle first came to Wolverhampton in 1927, when his mother, Dr Eva Pringle took over the Tettenhall Road surgery. A young widow with two sons, she was attracted to Wolverhampton by the spectacle of people skating on the lake in the West Park during what was an exceptionally cold winter. She passed on her enthusiasm for both Wolverhampton and medicine to Edward.
