The drug company Pfizer has made 10 confidential agreements with companies that could take over parts of its large site at Sandwich in Kent after it closes its operations there, MPs have been told.
Senior Pfizer executives giving evidence to MPs on the parliamentary science and technology committee on 28 February said the company was investigating more than 100 proposals and ideas for future use of its site.
Pfizer announced in February that it was to close its research and development site and acknowledged that most of the 2400 people who work there would be made redundant over the next two years (BMJ 2011;342:doi: 10.1136/bmj.d771).
