A long running General Medical Council case against the child protection paediatrician David Southall has been adjourned for six months, after illness forced the only remaining medical member of the fitness to practise panel to step down.
The hearing, which began in November 2006, will go ahead with a substitute panellist under little noticed GMC powers adopted last April to replace panel members even when, as in this case, findings of fact have already been made. The hearing is not expected to resume before …
