Sabah Al-Zayyat, the paediatrician accused of failing to spot Baby P’s injuries two days before he died, should not be allowed to avoid a public hearing by voluntarily removing herself from the medical register, a General Medical Council fitness to practise panel has decided.
Her lawyers immediately sought and won a 48 hour stay of proceedings to allow them to ask the High Court for permission to apply for a judicial review of the decision, announced on 25 October.
