Four million lives could be saved over next four years if more was done to tackle tuberculosis, partnership says

A new global action plan to combat tuberculosis says that prevention and treatment interventions must be rapidly scaled up.

Margaret Chan, director general of the World Health Organization, said at the plan’s launch on Friday 15 October that “10 million people, including four million women and children, will lose their lives unnecessarily between now and 2015 if we fail.”
