Angola starts mass polio vaccination campaign: Angola is carrying out a three day national polio vaccination campaign with the support of the World Health Organization, Unicef, and Rotary International, to be repeated at the end of October. It aims to reach 5.6 million children under 5 years old in a bid to stop a current outbreak in which 24 cases have been recorded this year. The neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo has reported 12 cases so far this year.
