Foundation trusts are predicting that their income over the next three years will fall for the first time and that clinical targets could be affected, according to the independent regulatory body, Monitor.
Monitor’s yearly review of NHS foundation trusts’ annual plans (2010-1) warned that the economic recession has hit this part of the NHS. Fears have also arisen that around a quarter of foundation trusts will miss performance standard targets linked to cancer care and hospital infections.
