Lancet Oncology has issued an “expression of concern” about the validity of a paper it published in 2007 showing that gene signatures predict the response of breast cancer to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (www.thelancet.com/journals/lanonc/article/PIIS1470-2045(10)70185-6/fulltext). It issued the notice after the authors responsible for the statistical analysis failed to respond to queries about their methods and one author was suspended from his university post.
