A leading stem cell researcher has responded to critics who wonder why the much publicised field of regenerative medicine is not progressing more speedily.
Speaking three days before the opening on 12 July of the annual meeting in Nottingham of the UK National Stem Cell Network, David Warburton asked the critics to have a little more patience. In support of his faith in the potential value of stem cells he outlined recent lung and kidney research from his own laboratory.
