Would action on health inequalities have saved New Labour?

We made a couple of mistakes in this observations article by Gerry McCartney and colleagues (BMJ 2010;340:c3294, doi:10.1136/bmj.c3294). Firstly, we gave Gerry McCartney the wrong affiliation: he is a specialist registrar in public health for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Glasgow [not MRC Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, Glasgow]. Secondly, the standfirst in the web version of the article should read: “Had Labour narrowed rather than widened [not ‘widened rather than narrowed’] the mortality gap, the balance of the current parliament might have been a bit different.”
