Unicef has launched its 2010 appeal for humanitarian action, seeking $1.2bn (£0.8bn; €0.9bn) from donors to help millions of children and women affected by emergencies in 28 countries around the globe, including earthquake hit Haiti.
Many children are at risk in Haiti because of the emergency; but millions are also suffering elsewhere from conflict, disasters, and displacement, said Hilde Johnson, Unicef’s deputy executive director.
