GMC strikes off GP who arranged late abortion for her daughter

    A British GP who arranged a late abortion in Spain for her teenage daughter has been struck off the medical register by the General Medical Council for “multiple instances of deceit, lack of probity, and dishonesty.”

    Saroj Adlakha, who ran the Shilpa medical centre in Kings Heath, Birmingham, paid €3200 (£2800; $4400) for her 18 year old student daughter, who was 31 weeks pregnant, to have the abortion at the Ginemedex clinic in Barcelona (BMJ 2010;340:c175, doi:10.1136/bmj.c175).
