Obama vows to pursue health reform plans despite new focus on banks

In his state of the union speech last week, President Barack Obama waited until he was well into his hour long speech before discussing health reform as he emphasised instead plans aimed at improving the US economy and increasing jobs. When the president did get round to the subject of heath cover he called for “everyone to take another look at the plan we’ve proposed [on health reform]” to ensure more people have access to healthcare insurance.
The president spoke before a joint session of Congress. A state of the union speech discussing the current state of the nation is required by the Constitution and is traditionally given every year in January.
