Young adult Americans set to gain expanded access to health insurance

    An estimated 13.7 million uninsured young adult Americans (ages 19 to 26) might gain access to health insurance under recently passed health reform legislation, according to a new report from the charity The Commonwealth Fund. They account for about a third of all people without health insurance in the US.

    The first to benefit will be an estimated 1.2 million young adults who will become eligible for coverage under their parent’s family policy that is either directly purchased or provided through their employer.
