The interim chairman of the UK government’s advisory body on drugs strongly hinted this week that it would recommend a ban on the “legal high” mephedrone when it reports to the home secretary next week.
Les Iversen, who chairs the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, was giving evidence to the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee in the wake of the deaths of two young people after taking mephedrone, which is marketed as a plant food.
