More than 50 European governments have pledged to reduce the adverse impact on health of environmental threats over the next decade. The commitment is set out in a declaration they adopted on 12 March at the fifth ministerial conference on environment and health held in Parma, Italy.
The meeting, organised by the World Health Organization, was the first major gathering of health and environment ministers since the UN climate change conference ended in disarray in Copenhagen shortly before Christmas.
