It is too soon to declare the H1N1 swine flu pandemic over and the evolution of the virus should be monitored closely over the next year, the head of the World Health Organization has warned.
Many countries in the northern hemisphere—such as the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, and some parts of continental Europe—“have passed the peak of their second wave,” Dr Margaret Chan, director general of the WHO, told reporters on Tuesday.
