John Neville Ormrod, former consultant ophthalmic surgeon in Maidstone, Kent, passed away peacefully at his home in Sutton Valence, Kent, on Friday 16 October 2009, aged 86.
John will be remembered by staff and many patients and their relatives as consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Kent County Ophthalmic and Aural Hospital, Maidstone, from 1956 to 1983. A very reserved man, he was highly respected by his patients and his colleagues as he demanded of himself the highest standards personally and in the diagnosis, treatment, and surgery of eye diseases. He always did what he knew to be right. He also demonstrated that essential mark of the surgeon, tenacity.
