One of the figures in this research article by Naoki Kondo and colleagues contains a couple of errors (BMJ 2009;339:b4471, doi:10.1136/bmj.b4471). In figure 2 of the full online version, the fourth heading from the left should read: “Fraction of estimated 1.5 million [not “14 million”] averted deaths (%)”; the heading was correct, however, in the print version. Both versions also contained an error at the bottom of the figure: 9.6% represents the percentage of total adult mortality (not of “total OECD population”).
