Pamela Anne Davies entered paediatrics at the time of her second job as house surgeon at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow. She later became resident medical officer at Tadworth Court, Surrey (the country branch of Great Ormond Street Hospital) and took further posts in Reading and Oxford before spending two years as instructor in paediatrics at Bellevue Medical Centre, New York.
