Storm affects 500 000 Filipinos: A tropical storm hit the Philippines on 26 September, causing extensive flooding in the capital, Manila, and large areas of Luzon island. World Health Organization reports say that the storm affected 435 000 people, displacing 116 000. There are 86 known casualties and 32 people missing, with reports yet to come in from isolated areas.
