Jeremy Robert Sides, son of Dr Jack Sides, also a general practitioner in Norfolk, was educated at Ratcliffe College, Leicester. He was an exceptionally bright student. His friends from that time still remember their Latin master marking exam papers and singing, “I’ll put my money on Jeremy Sides … da da do da day” as Jeremy always got top marks! He went to The London Hospital, where he first gained a BSc in biochemistry and then qualified in medicine in 1973.
