The second wave of swine flu is expected at the beginning of October at the earliest, the UK government’s chief scientific adviser has said.
But John Beddington, co-chairman of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, set up to advise the UK government on pandemic influenza, said that at present it is difficult to predict how the virus is likely to affect the population. But the government is preparing for the worst case scenario.
