An error occurred during the redrawing of figure 2 in this Clinical Review by Joanna Poulton and colleagues (BMJ 2009;338:b94; doi:10.1136/bmj.b94). The text in the bottom left hand part of panel D should read “Carrier mother’s oocytes are fertilised in vitro. The nucleus is then removed from the fertilised oocyte, with traces of adherent mitochondria, and injected into an enucleated donor oocyte.”
