Singapore to speed up medical council’s disciplinary procedures

The opening sentence of this News article by Ben Bland was inaccurate (BMJ 2009;338:b226, doi:10.1136/bmj.b226). The reason for the Singapore health ministry’s proposal to streamline disciplinary processes is to ensure that the legislation remains relevant to new developments in medical practice and not “to ensure that the large influx of foreign doctors in recent years does not lead to a decline in professional and ethical standards.”
