The global financial crisis could undermine progress on fulfilling the millennium development goals unless new ways are found to secure additional funding and deliver aid more effectively. This is a warning from a symposium held this week at the Royal Society in London.
A consortium of the Action for Global Health advocacy network of European health and development charities warns that development funding, particularly for the health related goals, remains seriously off-track. The goals aim to reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, and combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases.
