Holland holds mentally ill patients in isolation: The Dutch health minister Ab Klink has announced an investigation into the use of individual isolation units for seriously disturbed psychiatric patients. Official figures have shown that between 2004 and 2008 there were 134 cases of “separation,” each lasting more than a year. The numbers are declining, but the minister said that he was “shocked” by the figures.
