Plans for an overhaul of England’s pathology services have been welcomed, but there is concern that the move towards larger pathology networks is at odds with the competitive ethos that now exists between NHS foundation trusts.
The Royal College of Pathologists’ president, Peter Furness, said that the college was none the less “committed to assist” with the reforms but added that implementing them will not be easy.
