A DVD-ROM showing three dimensional images of the head and neck has won an award for the finest educational entry of the year at the 34th international health and medical education media awards. Data from medical scans were used to produce the software, from the UK company Primal Pictures. The visuals can be rotated 360 degrees and viewed through 24 layers from skin through to bone. Also included are explanatory text, dissections, clinical slides, x ray pictures from pathology investigations, high resolution dissection stills, video clips, functional anatomy animations, and surface anatomy videos that demonstrate muscle action.
