Urban children in Ethiopia have better survival rates than rural children

We failed to spot an inconsistency in data in this News article by Peter Moszynski (published with the title “Ethiopian study shows urban children in areas three times as likely to survive to 18 than rural children”) (BMJ 2008;337:a1765, doi:10.1136/bmj.a1765). The second paragraph states wrongly that “only one in four such children survive until their 18th birthday”; it should have said “only three in four such children survive until their 18th birthday.” The article later states correctly that in the study reported, survival from birth to 18 years was 760 per 1000.
