Number of items dispensed in Wales rose by 5% after prescriptions became free

    New data show that Wales dispenses an average of 20.9 prescription items per head of population, more than elsewhere in the United Kingdom. The figure is 17.7 items in Northern Ireland, 16 in Scotland, and 15.7 in England.
