Parents of Irish teenage girls pay for cervical cancer jab: Parents of girls excluded from the immunisation programme against human papillomavirus infection in Ireland are paying about €600 (£475; $880) to have their daughters vaccinated. Budgetary constraints meant that the Irish health minister decided not to fund a recommended catch-up immunisation programme for 13-15 year olds. The vaccine will be offered free to all 12 year old girls from September 2009.
