    Shanmuga Bhaskar, Bhaskie as he was known to friends and colleagues, was a pioneering transplant surgeon. After qualifying, he initially trained as a surgeon under Professor Rangabashyam in Madras (Chennai). He came to the United Kingdom in 1986 and gained his FRCS from Edinburgh in 1988. He continued with registrar jobs in south Yorkshire and the west of Scotland. …
