Inhaled steroids are overused: Of 1171 patients on inhaled steroids who were referred to a primary care diagnostic centre in a six month period, 505 had no clear indication for their use, a Dutch study has found (Family Practice doi: 10.1093/fampra/cmn006). One year after GPs reassessed the patients, 11% of the patients originally using steroids had no indication to use them, and reasons for their use remained unclear in a further 15%.
