Professor (emeritus) Thomas Stapleton (“Tom”) died peacefully of old age at his home in Lane End, High Wycombe, on 15 November.
He was born in Lynton, Devon, on 1 February 1920 and was educated at the King’s School, Canterbury (Kent), and University College, Oxford, qualifying during the second world war.
