The police say that at least 10 000 protestors marched through the streets of London on Saturday, and a further 500 in Glasgow, in protest at the government's computerised application system for jobs as junior hospital doctors.
The march, organised by Remedy UK and supported by the BMA, culminated with speeches from MPs in Lincoln's Inn Fields, with Conservative Party leader David Cameron addressing the crowds. He said that the training system was a “shambles,” that the Conservatives would treat doctors “like human beings,” and that he would call the government to account for its Modernising Medical Careers policy.
