The risk of developing breast cancer in the United Kingdom may be stabilising, even though most UK cancer registries are reporting an increased incidence after the introduction of mass screening, a study published online in the International Journal of Cancer shows (2006 Sep 8, doi:10.1002/ijc.22160).
The study, by researchers from the Istituto Nazionale per lo Studio e la Cura dei Tumori, Milan, calculated and estimated breast cancer trends in 10 European countries from 1970 to 2005.
