The number of deaths from malaria each year among African children aged under 5 years has risen to 900 000, a new report estimates.
Furthermore, mortality from the disease could be much higher, because of poor or non-existent data from vast areas of the continent, says the report, published online ahead of print publication on 28 February in the International Journal of Epidemiology (http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/, doi:10.1093/ije/dyl027).
