John Devine
Former general practitioner Kilmarnock, Scotland (b Kirkliston 1917; q
Edinburgh 1941), d 5 January 2006.
John Devine started as a general practitioner in Port Glasgow before serving
with the Royal Army Medical Corps in Assam and Burma (1944-6). After his
return to the UK he moved to Kilmarnock, where he practised for 40 years.
He was very active in the community, serving on many local and regional medical
boards. He loved travel, and after retiring he and his wife, Peggy, made
many overseas trips, particularly to the Far East, for which he had a special
affinity. Peggy (also b 6 October 1917), died 14 days after John. They leave
six children, 14 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. [M Devine]
