Francis Kilpatrick (Kilp) came from South Africa to Guy's as a clinical student in 1930. He spent virtually all his professional life at Guy's, becoming a surgical registrar in 1937. With a colleague he bore the brunt of the surgical on call throughout the second world war. Kilp was appointed consultant urologist at Guy's in 1946; he was also appointed to St Peter's Hospital. He retired in 1973. Predeceased by his wife, Eileadh, he leaves three children and eight grandchildren.
