Rising levels of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents are an increasing cause for concern in the UK and worldwide.^w1-w3We used hospital episode statistics to investigate the rates of admission of children aged 0-18 years to English hospitals for obesity and type 2 diabetes.
