The General Medical Council refused last week to let a former consultant anaesthetist remove her name voluntarily from the medical register and went ahead with a hearing into allegations that she ended an intensive care patient's life prematurely.
Ann David, from Rayleigh, Essex, told a fitness to practise panel that she was “disillusioned by everything that has happened” and had no plans to practise medicine again. But the panel decided there was a public interest in allowing the case against her to proceed.
