Paul was brought up in Pembrokeshire, moved to Leicester, qualified from The London Hospital, and then returned to Pembrokeshire as a junior doctor training to be a general practitioner. He was the instigator of Pembrokeshire Doctors on Call and also a GP teacher. Paul was an enthusiast for his powerboat and was learning to fish. There was motivation in his fishing: he was also a gourmet chef, particularly fond of fish of all kinds, and a close follower of Rick Stein. He leavesa wife, Bethan, and two children.
