Extra NHS money spent on reviving previously neglected services

Extra investment in the NHS since 2002 has largely gone on compensating for chronic underfunding in the 1980s and 1990s, according to the NHS Confederation, the national body that represents NHS organisations. The confederation has published a report claiming that historic under investment in the health service has been “grossly underestimated.” It also says spending on more staff and paying them better is vital to maintain the improvements seen in the NHS in recent years.
The report comes halfway through the government's programme of extra investment in the NHS from 2002-3 to 2007-8 …
