EDITOR—Griffiths et al critically appraised all randomised clinical trials into the timing of tracheostomy in adult patients in intensive care units.1 Of the identified trials, most were excluded for several reasons, leaving only five trials with a combined study population of 406 patients for review and meta-analysis.
