Improving children's eating and exercise habits is central to making Britain a healthier nation, health secretary John Reid said last week. He was announcing details of how the government was going to implement its public health white paper that was published last November (BMJ 2004;329:1201).
The plan gives details about who will do what and when at national, regional, and local level. The Department of Health will be publishing six monthly progress reports of developments.
