    Always a sucker for a quick fix, I was immediately attracted to Adrian Woolfson's book by its title. An Intelligent Person's Guide to Genetics promises something to the potential reader: “If you are an intelligent person,” it says, “I will explain genetics to you in a way that you will understand.” Perhaps now, I thought, it would all become a little clearer.
